Galaxy Release 8.17.1

We are pleased to announce the availability of Galaxy Release 8.17.1. This patch release contains an unusual number new features including:

  • A new rec2sqlite script that compiles the Record language telemetry and command definitions into an SQLite relational database. SQLite is available for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X, and has bindings for most popular scripting and programming languages. This new feature allows users to generate custom database reports on their preferred platform using the technology of their choosing.

  • Support for CCSDS telecommand segmentation (CCSDS 232.0-B-1, Section 4.1.3)

  • Support for the PCIe4 version of the CDa synchronous serial interface card from Engineering Design Team (EDT), along with support for the latest version of the PCD driver and API. Galaxy can use the CDa and other cards from EDT for synchronous serial telemetry input, and telecommand output. It also uses these as the interface between Galaxy and certain telecommand encryption devices, and for general purpose synchronous serial communication – especially in cases where Galaxy is acting as a spacecraft or component simulator.

It also includes enhancements to our CCSDS Space Link Extension (SLE) interfaces and to the itos_ascii_nv_tlm utility, along with a new date data type and other enhancements and bug fixes.After that, look for Galaxy Release 8.18.0 on November 3.
